Trains (& Other Public Transport)

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides local service throughout Utah County.

Front Runner

Travel Tips:

The total trip from Salt Lake City Airport to the Provo Marriott, using public transportation, takes around 1.5 - 2 hours.

For your entire trip from the SLC International Airport to Provo, you can expect the cost to be around $6.10. The only ticket that you will need to buy is for the FrontRunner, as your fares for the airport light rail & UVX Bus are also covered with that ticket. 

If you have 4 people traveling together, you can get a group pass for $15 that will cover all UTA services, including the Frontrunner and UVX. Less than $4.00 per person! Find out more here.

SLC to Provo: An Overview

Your journey to Provo will last approximately one and a half to two hours, involving a transfer from the TRAX Green Line to the Frontrunner. It's a smooth transition that offers you a chance to witness Utah's scenic beauty.

1. Board the TRAX Green Line

The TRAX Green Line departs from the airport every 15 minutes before 7pm and every 30 minutes after. Ride it for five stops until you reach the North Temple Bridge Guadalupe station, where you'll exit for your transfer.

2. Transfer to the Frontrunner

At the North Temple station, carefully cross the tracks and either take the escalator or elevator down to the Frontrunner station. The Frontrunner, heading southbound to Provo, departs every 30 minutes, or hourly midday.

3. Download the Transit App

For the most efficient journey, download the transit app. It's a valuable tool for planning your route, tracking wait times, and handling payments.

 

4. Ride the Frontrunner

The ride from North Temple Station to Provo is approximately 70 minutes long. This is your time to relax, enjoy free Wi-Fi, read a book, or simply enjoy the landscape.

Once you arrive at Provo station, you'll find ample opportunities to explore, especially with the UVX free bus line. Remember there's no Frontrunner service on Sundays.

Frontrunner Tips

Provo is South of Salt Lake.
          Take the FrontRunner train going SOUTH.  Check the signage before you board.

The FrontRunner has free wifi.

The FrontRunner train does NOT on operate on Sunday.

          Riders can still get to Provo from the Salt Lake Airport on Sundays (or vice versa), but the journey takes over three hours to complete. Use the Transit app to plan your trip. ​

UVX Tips

Many popular destinations around the Provo/Orem area, are accessible using the UVX line. With buses running every 6-10 minutes, you'll reach your destination in good time.

UVX is currently $2.50 per person and free for BYU & UVU students.

Amtrak & Greyhound

For a more scenic travel route, consider Amtrak or Greyhound. Greyhound stops in both Provo and Spanish Fork, offering multiple access points to our beautiful valley. Hop on Amtrak's California Zephyr line and travel some of the most beautiful land in the country before you reach your final destination in Provo.
