Utah's Top Scenic Drives

Some of the most beautiful mountain vistas and fall colors can be seen on paved roads from the comfort of your own car or from the back of your motorcycle. Enjoy the grandeur of Utah scenery on scenic routes such as the Alpine Loop Scenic Backway, The Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway, Provo Canyon Scenic Byway, or Hobble Creek Canyon. Along these routes you'll find some of the best outdoor recreation Utah Valley has to offer. 

Nebo Loop

The Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway offers breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range and 11,877-foot Mt. Nebo, the tallest peak in the county. This route offers some fantastic camping spots, such as Payson Lakes, as well as popular hiking/biking trails like the Blackhawk Loop Trail and Loafer Mountain Trail. Devil's Kitchen is a must see pocket of red-rock hidden among the forests giant conifers. Alpine Loop

On your drive be sure to visit Tibble Fork Resevoir, a peaceful fishing spot that offers a beautiful view of the area.Cascade Springs is also a favorite natural wonder that features large springs cascading down the mountain slope in a series of limestone terraces and pools. Fish can often be seen up close in the clear mountain springs on the easy 1/2 mile paved trail.

Lush vegetation characterizes the Alpine Loop. At the summit of American Fork Canyon, vistas of Mt. Timpanogos are visible through impressive aspen groves. Campgrounds and picnic areas are numerous. This Loop also provides access to Timpanogos Cave National Monument and Sundance Resort. Trails along the byway lead from the road into the Mt. Timpanogos and Lone Peak Wilderness Areas.

Provo Canyon

The Provo Canyon Scenic Byway winds through wonderful Provo Canyon, past Bridal Veil Falls (607 feet drop) and Deer Creek Reservoir, and on to Heber Valley. The road runs parallel of the Provo River, one of the world's premiere fly-fishing streams. For a fun leisurely view of the canyon go back in time and take a ride on the historic Heber Valley Railroad or take a bike ride on the Provo River Trail. The dynamic forces of a past era are revealed in the canyon's gnarled rock walls and jagged rock formations, lush with forest vegetation.
